Seed bead jewellery is quite delicate, so it's important to take proper care when cleaning it.
First, create a soap solution with a few drops of mild dish soap and warm water. Get a soft cloth - preferably a lint-free one and dip it into the solution to then gently wipe the beads. If the beads are particularly dirty, use a soft bristle brush.
Remove all the soap by rinsing the jewellery under warm water without totally immersing it. Pat it dry and store it in a pouch or jewellery box when you're not wearing it.
If you have a pair of old earrings you'd like to upgrade to seed charm or another design you had in mind, here's how to do it.
The first method is to airdry the seeds for up to a week. Spread them out on a towel or cloth without the seeds touching one another. Store them in an area with plenty of ventilation and out of direct sunlight to prevent them from getting brittle.
If you don't have much time, another drying technique is to use an oven. Set your oven to the lowest temperature, and spread the seeds out in the same way as the previous method. Bake them for no more than 30 minutes, stirring them every 10 minutes.
Whichever strategy you use, you must check that they are completely dry before using them for jewellery.
