Find out more about the belly rings we offer below.
A belly ring is a piercing that you wear on your belly button - usually through the skin at the top of the belly button. You can choose from bars and belly rings. Some people prefer rings so that they don't catch on their clothing.
Belly rings can be plain. This might be plain gold belly rings. You can also get plain ones in colour. We have also designed some less plain styles too. These sometimes have dangle features. It might be a gemstone or a charm like a cross, similar to these cross huggies.
Body jewellery comes in lots of styles. It is often made from metal but you can find some other styles too.
Belly rings don't really symbolise anything. Some people might think they're about beauty and youth. However, the trend of this kind of body jewellery changes very often. So, it doesn't really have a fixed symbol.
The material that belly rings are made from might have some meaning. For example, crystal belly rings will have a meaning from the stone that is used. This could be a citrine stone which means joy and happiness. As well as crystals, a charm might have some meaning. So, if your belly ring has a skull on it, it could mean something to you. You might also find birthstone styles, like this necklace.
On top of physical features, a belly ring might have meaning for when you get it. A relative may have given you it. You also might have had your belly pierced on a birthday or special day. This would give it meaning for you.
Girls (and boys) wear belly rings for loads of reasons. Body piercings are often acts of rebellion or individuality. But for some cultures, they can have a more sacred meaning.
Each person is different, so they will wear a belly ring for different reasons. For some, it's because it simply looks good. Some people might choose belly rings with significant stones for peace. Some might just want to act rebellious. A reason some people get their belly pierced is because of the confidence it gives them.
Additionally, some people might choose to follow trends. Belly button piercings were very popular in the nineties. Lots of nineties styles are coming back in, including these piercings!
Not always. Non-piercing belly rings are available in a few ways.
There are clip-on styles. These will clip onto the part of the belly button that would be pierced (the skin above it usually). They don't at all require a belly button piercing. You'll also find magnetic styles. These are two pieces that attach to your belly button by magnetic force.
For us, clip-ons might work best because if you knock the magnetic style, you could lose a small part of it. The clip-on styles are usually easier not to lose.
Non-piercing styles are great if you haven't decided if you want the piercing or if you can't have it. Usually, you need to be of a certain age before you can have the piercing. You also might just want to not go through the whole needle thing!!
Body jewellery needs to be made of good quality metals. Our belly rings are all made with metals from ethical places too.
We have both gold and silver belly rings. The former is made with solid gold or gold vermeil. Gold vermeil is like plated gold but much thicker. This makes it last longer. Our silver pieces are made with sterling silver.
As well as the metals, we also have stone options. Diamond belly rings are an expensive choice, but they look great. You might treat yourself to a diamond style and wear it for life. We also have crystal styles to add colour, like our Sage Green Jade Hoop earrings do.
Dangle belly rings look great! We think they are a very stylish choice. However, they might not be an everyday choice. This is because they could get in the way or get caught on things.
Dangle belly rings are better when it's on show. If you're going to the beach you might wear a dangle style. It can add something glam to your bikini look. It would work really well at a beach or pool party too!
You should also choose dangle styles when wearing a crop top. You might style it for a date or special occasion. It can add something sparkly to your outfit. Dangle belly rings will also work if you don't want to wear any other jewellery!
There are cons to most piercings and jewellery styles. Some cons of belly rings include:
Cleaning belly rings is like any other jewellery. First, remove it from the piercing hole. Then use warm and soapy water.
If you've got specific kinds of metals, there might be different cleaning instructions. For example, some metals can't be exposed to water like others can. All the metals we use will withstand soapy water.
If you're removing the jewellery, keep it safe in the pouch it comes in. We give a pouch with all our pieces to keep them protected.
Cleaning the piercing requires sterilisation. Always follow the advice from your piercer!!
