Headbands
Camile & Stone has lots of hair accessories, including unique headbands. While you might know us for our high-quality jewellery, we also have a big stock of headbands in Australia.
Like our jewellery, we have lots of stylish headband options and we offer a variety of colour options too. You can wear our headbands to special occasions as well as for every day. We use good quality materials in our headbands so they will last ages.
Hairbands are making a comeback like many styles from the 90s and 00s are. This trend includes things like claw clips and hoop earrings along with headbands. Because of this, there's lots of styles in our collection that reflect past styles, but we also have updated items too.
Find out more about our headband collection below.
Headbands for women can be worn in a few ways. Usually, people wear this style to keep their hair out of their face. This means pushing it back and taking your hair with it. However, you can also just wear it as a style piece rather than being functional. You could curl your hair and then add the hairband as something pretty.
Some people also wear those stretchy style hair bands for exercise or running to keep their hair out of their face. They might also be trying to keep sweat from their forehead going onto their hair. Lastly, some people wear headbands to sleep in.
Fashion headbands are really cool to add to your outfit but there's some cons to wearing them. First, if you're wearing one that is too small it could pull at the edges of your hair. As many hairbands are one size fits all, you might find some are too tight.
Hairbands can also put a kink in your hair. So if you wear one one day, you might have to straighten the kink out the next day unless you're washing your hair anyway.
Last, hairbands are sometimes really tight. If you're wearing one on occasion, it's usually fine, but if you wear one for a really long time you might find you get a headache. This is due to the pressure of the band on your head.
Cute headbands look great but when worn wrong they can lead to damage. Although it's not going to happen right away, sometimes wearing headbands repeatedly can lead to breakages. They might also impact the hairline.
However, when shopping for headbands online, you don't need to be terrified. Most of the damage is done by prolonged use, too small bands, and pulling the bands from your hair harshly. Instead, just make sure you're being gentle. Also, aim to find a hair band that fits!
Some people sleep in headbands to protect their hair. These headbands will be made of soft and protective material so that they protect rather than damage in your sleep.
Bridal headbands are really trendy and for good reason. Some people might not want to wear a veil or tiara as a bride. They might prefer a more subdued look. And a headband is a great choice for this. It can be really minimalist and make you feel bridal without being too glitzy. You can find plain white satin styles that would pair well with minimal moissanite studs.
On the other hand, you can also find very glam bridal headbands. These might have crystals or diamonds stitched into them and have padding too. They're really stylish and would work with a minimal outfit or with long drop earrings and a glitzy dress.
Look into bridal headbands if you want something a little different on your big day.
There's loads of types of headbands. They vary in style and colours and materials. One of the most commonly recognised styles is the Alice band. This is the rigid arc-shaped band. It gets its name, allegedly, from Alice in Wonderland.
This style might have prongs to pull the hair back or not. It's also popular now for it to be padded to increase the height of it. It might also be embellished, as in, it could have sequins or crystals on it too.
Handmade headbands are often very intricately adorned with diamonds or pearls.
The other type of headband you will see is the elasticated type. This is usually a continuous circle of fabric or elastic. It could be patterned or plain. You can also get a similar style but made of a plastic and shaped into prongs. This is often called a shark-toothed hairband.
Headbands for girls are popular now, but what is interesting is that headbands were often worn by men. In Korean military history, headbands were practical and they symbolised loyalty and submission. Hachimaki headbands in Japanese culture meant determination and devotion.
The Alice band was named for Alice in Wonderland, so some symbolism could be seen there. However, headbands in the modern day are often just a fashion accessory and don't have any more meaning than that.
We wouldn't say so. You can definitely find headbands that would work in formal settings, for example. You can wear a plain coloured style with plain gold hoops and look very elegant. You can also wear headbands to the gym or to go running.
Headbands are a really versatile accessory and they're also practical. They're even good for days when you really don't want to do your hair!
Yes, you can as long as there is no company policy against it of course. We'd suggest wearing subtle and quiet styles for work, like neutral colours. But if you really want to wear an embellished style, just make sure it's allowed within your workplace.
Some places you might not get away with a headband are hospitality jobs because they might not meet uniform standards and they might also be a hazard in healthcare places.
If you can't wear it at work, then make sure you have outfits to pair your headband with outside of work! Consider pairing it with a matching necklace.
